Stevan Jovetic arrived at Manchester City with big things expected of him.
Signed from Fiorentina for £22m in 2013, he was expected to challenge the likes of Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko for a striking role at the Etihad.
Things didn’t work out for the Montenegro international and two years later he was starting an 18-month loan deal with Inter Milan.
Reflecting on his time in England, the injury-prone Jovetic believes he wasn’t given a fair chance at City.
“When I was fit they didn’t play me, when I scored I went off after a maximum of 60 minutes and it’s difficult,” he complains to Undici.
“I had a normal relationship with Pellegrini, we never argued. It was just that I deserved to play more. I thought that then and I thought that now.”
Having only found the back of the net four times since returning to Italy, Jovetic has hardly lit up Serie A. According to him though, this is because it’s a more challenging league to play in than the Premier League.
