Manchester United could really do with Monaco’s Fabinho.
How do we know this? Because any United supporter with a Twitter account seem to think so, that’s how.
As they rightly point out, a move for the Brazilian would make perfect sense. Not only can he play in defensive midfield – an area Jose Mourinho is reported to trying to strengthen – but he’s also just as comfortable at right back, and would provide cover for Antonio Valencia.
As well as all this, Fabinho seems pretty keen in swapping Monte Carlo for Manchester. Only last week, we told you how he’d appeared to issue a textbook ‘come and get me’ plea to United during an interview back in his homeland.
Despite all this, there’s still nothing to suggest Mourinho is remotely interested in bringing the 23-year-old to Old Trafford, much to the disappointment of transfer-hungry United fans. To make matters worse, there also appears to be another big, Paris Saint-Germain-sized obstacle in the way of Fabinho plying his trade in Manchester next summer.
Fresh from seeing Monaco nab their French title from underneath their Qatari Royal Family-backed noses, PSG are said to be eyeing a move for Fabinho. Those United fans that refuse to give up on the idea of him ending up in Paris needn’t start calling for Ed Woodward’s head just yet, however.
According to reports, Monaco would prefer to sell Fabinho to a club in another league. If all this is correct, it seems Fabinho is all United’s if they do actually want him.
