Last season’s Match of the Day goal of the season competition had an unlikely victor.
The award was won by Jack Wilshere for his final day effort against West Bromwich Albion, with many suggestion Arsenal fans had hijacked the voting process.
Just saw that Wilshere won the MOTD goal of the season. Are Arsenal fans that sad? Of course they are.

Jack Wilshere wins Goal of the Season on Match of the Day. If that actually goes down in Goal of the Season history, it's a scandal.

I know these votes are always to some degree superfluous, but can't believe Wilshere's volley is MOTD goal of the season. Top strike, tho…

Sanchez fans player of the season. Wilshere goal of the season. If you aren't capable of winning on the pitch, you have to try win off it.

But there’s no chance of the same thing happening again this time around, and it’s not just because Wilshere is yet to find the net this season.
According to Metro, there will be no public vote for the 2015/16 award, with producers instead deciding to let a panel of experts have the final say.
That’s not to say an Arsenal player won’t win again, mind you, though Wilshere will need to produce something very special against Aston Villa to make it three in a row.
