If there’s one man famous for predicting the outcome of fights it’s Conor McGregor.
But Ireland’s UFC featherweight champion obviously doesn’t have the monopoly on crystal balls.
Middleweight champion Michael Bisping’s head coach has made a bold prediction about the outcome of his grudge rematch with Dan Henderson at UFC 204 in Manchester.
Bisping will be defending his title on home soil against the veteran American who brutally KO’d him at UFC 100 seven years ago.
But coach Jason Parillo, who helped steer Bisping to a sensational and shock title victory over Luke Rockhold, reckons the Brit will knock Henderson out in one shot.
Not only that, but former boxer Parillo has even predicted the exact shot the Lancastrian will floor the 46-year-old with on Saturday night in the main event at the Manchester Arena.
“So we’re just going to go one shot,” Parillo said during an interview with Submission Radio.
“Every time I get asked these questions, I go with the one shot. If it ends from one shot, I’ll tell you what shot it’s gonna be.
“It’s gonna be a head kick. He’s gonna knock out Dan Henderson with a head kick. Left head kick. He’s gonna knock him out with a left head kick.”
It’s a bold prediction to make against a powerful striker like Henderson. But he could be bang on the money.
Parillo actually predicted the shot that Bisping would knock Rockhold out with in his shock title victory at UFC 199.
Nobody gave Bisping a hope in hell and he was a massive 10/1 outsider to emerge victorious against a man many thought was the future of the middleweight division after steamrolling Chris Weidman.
But Parillo spotted a chink in Rockhold’s armour and recognised one shot that he believed could put the American’s lights out in one…and it came true when Bisping KO’d him in the first round.
“Luke Rockhold I knew by watching his training footage that he was going to be vulnerable to that left hook,” Parillo said in a documentary on the new British champion.
“And most importantly, I knew he was going to be vulnerable to that left hook, but I knew Mike had control over his left hook.
“Until you actually feel it hit a Guy’s face and the guy falls to the floor, you know that’s when you’ve got control over your punch.”
Bisping himself added: “Jason recognised the left hook was going to be the money shot. He always left his Right hand down which was leaving his chin exposed.
“Jason called it. He said ‘the left hook’ is going to do it and we drilled it over and over and over.”
So it might be worth putting a cheeky few quid on Parillo’s prediction, he’s been bang on the money before.
