Michael Owen proves once again he’s the king of understatement

It's a talent

JOE

This is peak Michael Owen.

The former Liverpool and Manchester United striker has become known for making numerous understatements.

Such as the time when he said the problem with Manchester City was that when they don’t score, they don’t win.

While his comments about Christian Benteke weren’t quite in the same league, the BT Sport pundit was up to his old tricks.

Owen said, prior to Liverpool’s game away to West Ham, that although he doesn’t believe the Reds striker is lazy, he needs to work harder. Which is basically a round-about way of saying he is lazy.

Apparently Benteke also needs crosses into the box to score, and if he’s not in the box then “there’s going to be a problem.”

And the Belgian striker is “top class” but not good enough to accommodate and needs to work harder.
