For years now, Conor McGregor has grown accustomed to being called out a lot due to the guaranteed payday he brings to the Octagon against any opponent and it would be impossible for ‘The Notorious’ to accept every single fight offer.
But McGregor has seemingly agreed to a clash against a true veteran of the UFC’s lightweight division as the Irishman has verbally accepted the challenge of Donald Cerrone, following the performance of ‘Cowboy’ on Saturday night.
A betting underdog going into his return to 155lbs against Alex Hernandez on the UFC’s debut ESPN card in Brooklyn, Cerrone put on a striking clinic against the young buck and stopped Hernandez in the second round with a vintage head kick.

Having banged the drum for a lucrative meeting with McGregor on several occasions in recent months, Cerrone reiterated his desire to share the Octagon with the former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion in his post-fight interview.
“This is the fight the UFC and I both wanted. Now I want top five and I even want Conor if he’ll agree to it,” Cerrone said.
“Conor would be awesome. Anyone in the top five. I’m coming for the belt. ‘Cowboy’ is back, I’m on a roll and here I come.”
McGregor was clearly impressed with Cerrone’s showing because he wasted little time in accepting the fight that many fans feel would be the perfect re-introduction to action for the divisive Dubliner.
