A lot of people struggle to get out of bed during chemo, not Dylan Evans
Dylan Evans quit his job to try and make it as a professional MMA fighter. A grinding amateur, he’d fought six times (2-4). Then he found out he had cancer.
Going through chemotherapy isn’t the only part of his treatment for Hodgkin lymphoma, a type of blood cancer. Alongside it he takes a whole host of unpronounceable supplements and medicines, as well as cannabis oil.
An exhausting process of treatment that consumes and destroys the body. Dylan still works out.
Having lost close to all of his strength and stamina, built by years of determined graft, the 23-year-old fighter bluntly refuses to surrender.
And it’s a three mile cycle to the gym before a strength and conditioning circuit with his trainer, Sam, at Renegade Fitness Academy in Stevenage.
“Fucked. My muscles feel fucked. But I love it. Move or die.
“Smashed it out today but I look extremely tired. Woke up and got shit done. I haven’t got chemo until next Friday so I’ll be making the most of every moment of every day, up until that point.
“I’ll probably just get an early night and get to sleep. Rest up and get ready to get the fuck on with it tomorrow.”
