Rousey previously blames “ungrateful fans” for keeping her away
Former UFC star Ronda Rousey has shared a video of her resuming pro-wrestling training, fueling rumours that she is about to make a WWE comeback.
Rousey made the switch from MMA to wrestling in 2018, but she hasn’t been seen in WWE since losing to Becky Lynch in the main event of Wrestlemania 35 in 2019.
Now she has uploaded a video where she resumes wrestling training with Teal Piper, the daughter of WWE Hall of Famer Roddy Piper. Ronda Rousey took her ‘Rowdy’ nickname from Roddy Piper, and he also gave her his seal of approval before he died.
“She’s just getting back into training, kind of learning the basic,” Rousey says of Teal Piper in the video. “I never even learned the basics, [WWE] were just like ‘fucking WrestleMania, go!'”
Ronda Rousey said that she was taking a break from wrestling to start a family with her husband – and fellow UFC fighter – Travis Browne. However, various photos of her resuming training have begun to surface online.
In an interview with Jackass star Steve-O, Rousey said she did not intend to return to wrestling full-time, and blames “ungrateful fans” partially for the decision. Then again, wrestlers are always working the fans, even when they are not in the ring, so take that with a pinch of salt if you want.
“So it’s just like … what am I doing it for if I’m not being able to spend my time and energy on my family, but instead spending my time and my energy on a bunch of fucking ungrateful fans that don’t even appreciate me?” Rousey told Steve-O. “I love performing. I love the girls. I love being out there … but, at the end of the day, I was just like, “Fuck these fans, dude.'”
“My family loves me and they appreciate me and I want all my energy to go into them. So that was my decision at the end of the day. It’s like, ‘Hey girls. Love what you’re doing. I’m gonna try and take all my momentum and push you guys as far as I can … fly little birds, fly! I’m going fucking home!’ And that was basically it.”
