He was taken to hospital after a crash at Mugello qualifying
In a tragic story, 19-year-old Moto3 rider, Jason Dupasquier, has died following a horrific crash involving three bikes during yesterday’s qualifying session at Mugello, Italy.
The Swiss rider was flown in an emergency helicopter to a hospital in Florence but, sadly, he passed away after having succumbed to his injuries. MotoGP published their memorial to him, having shared a story of his rising career just moments before the announcement. Tributes are now pouring in on social media, including from his team, Prustel GP:

MotoGP said in their statement: “Despite the best efforts of circuit medical staff and all those subsequently attending to the Swiss rider […] Dupasquier has sadly succumbed to his injuries. […] On behalf of the entire MotoGP family, we send our love to his team, his family and loved ones You will be sorely missed, Jason. Ride in peace.”
Prustel GP, like many around the racing world, said “We’re devastated, and at this time all of our thoughts are with Jason’s family. You’ll be sorely missed and never forgotten.”
MotoGP world championship leader, Fabio Quartararo, dedicated what he hailed as “the best lap” of his career to Dupasquier.
His is one of many lives cut far too short and acts as a timely reminder of the risks these incredible athletes take every time they step out on those bikes. A truly impressive young talent. RIP.
