Serious shots have been fired…or have they?
Whatever you think of Cristiano Ronaldo personally, you’d imagine that no-one in the world could doubt the Portugal man’s incredible natural talent.
He’s the current Ballon d’Or holder and widely accepted as one of the best players of all-time, but one former teammate has reportedly suggested he is overrated.
Gonzalo Higuain played with Ronaldo up until he departed for Napoli in 2013, and it is alleged today that he let rip about his ex-colleague in an interview with ‘Don Balon’.
The Argentina international reportedly dismissed any talk of Ronaldo being Lionel Messi’s equal, and took a sly dig at the Real Madrid man’s sense of self-importance:
“He has a lot of ego. If you don’t say he’s the best, he’s not your friend. Cristiano thinks he’s the best but he’s overrated.
“I’ve shared a dressing room with Messi and one is nothing like the other.”
Naturally enough the comments caused a major sh*t-storm across the continent, but Napoli have issued a statement claiming that the striker did not give any such interview and the quotes are made up…
It seems a bit strange that a publication would just fabricate an entire interview, so perhaps there is more to it than meets the eye.
