Nate Diaz endeared himself to Conor McGregor fans with his heartfelt comments

In this together...

Nate Diaz is fighting Conor McGregor at UFC 200, or he is going on vacation.

Dana White and the UFC brass appear to be the only ones dead set against McGregor-Diaz II.

The promotion is holding firm on its stance that ‘The Notorious’ is out of UFC 200 due to his failure to commit to full media and publicity duties.

Nate Diaz was given a seat right next to White at the UFC 200 press conference but, he quickly explained, he is either fighting McGregor or the biggest event of the year can go swing. Diaz said:

“I didn’t ask for that fight, but McGregor asked for it and he wanted it.

“If that ain’t gonna happen, I’m going on vacation.”

Diaz also claimed McGregor was merely following in the footsteps on both himself and his brother, Nick Diaz, in steering clear of press commitments.

For what it is worth, the Stockton native could care less if he sees McGregor again until UFC 200 on July 9. He commented:

“He’s got a lot of catching up to do, so there ain’t no time for this shit. I’ve been dodging all this for years, I’ve been in trouble for it.

“So I understand, it’s all good. Let him do his thing, get his train on and get ready to fight. It’s all good with me.”

Diaz was asked what the latest possible date was that he needed to know whether he would fight McGregor or not. For him, the controversy of the last few days has not altered his focus.

“I’m training to fight at UFC 200 against Conor McGregor,” he said. “That’s what I’m training for.”

Asked for his reaction to McGregor tweeting about his earnings for the company, Diaz pulled out the line of the night:

“Conor got his ass beat.”

It’s gold like this we’ll miss almost as much as the fight itself.
