The New York Jets will go into the season without their starting quarterback Geno Smith after he suffered a broken jaw at the hands of a team mate.
Smith’s jaw was broken by defensive end IK Enemkpali after the pair got into an argument over money at the Jets’ training camp. The injury puts Smith out for between six and 10 weeks as he recovers, meaning he could miss up to seven games.
Geno Smith is out 6-10 weeks, also known as "Jets record" weeks.

According to ESPN, Enemkpali had booked a flight for Smith in July so that Smith could attend a football camp.
Smith did not end up using the flight after someone close to him died in a motorcycle accident. Smith agreed to pay Enemkpali the $600 for the flight but had yet to come up with the money when the two clashed, apparently.
The Jets released Enemkpali after the incident, which means he will miss out on the base salary of $510,000 he was due to earn this year. He’s really going to need that $600 now.
