With their side currently sitting 19th in the Premier League, relegation is a very real possibility for supporters of Newcastle United.
Steve McClaren’s future at the club is looking extremely bleak, and thoughts are already turning to who might succeed him.
ChronicleLive has asked Newcastle supporters who they would like to see take charge of the club for their next match, an away fixture at table-topping Leicester City.
A sample of over 6,000 Newcastle fans responded, with 56% of votes indicating that they’d like to see former Real Madrid boss Rafa Benitez take charge on Tyneside.
Former Everton and Manchester United boss David Moyes was the preferred choice of 16% of voters, with Nigel Pearson third favourite with 7%.
Ajax coach Frank de Boer received 6% of votes, narrowly ahead of Brendan Rodgers (5%).
The remaining 3% wanted McClaren to remain in charge at the club.
