We’re no financial experts, but Mike Ashley might want to reconsider how he’s spending his money as of late.
Maybe the extreme cold weather of Tyneside has driven him mad, but the controversial Newcastle United owner happily splashed out £12m for Jonjo Shelvey just a few days ago after the England international appeared to give up on his former club Swansea.
Now Ashley is using his fortune to run a £2.4m jacket giveaway to his club’s fans if the Magpies beat West Ham at St James Park on Saturday.

But despite the apparent generosity of the Newcastle owner, the news wasn’t well-received on by fans on Twitter.
@NUFC hope we go down purely because of this tweet, thanks for ruining my 2016.

Some had ideas as to why there were some extra jackets lying around to give away…
@NUFC did Callum the intern screw up the bulk buy?

While other simply doubted the value of the jacket being offered…

But some fans found a way to turn it into something worth doing…
