Newcastle United winger Rolando Aarons arrested after nightclub brawl

Rolando Aarons has been arrested after being involved in a fracas in a Newcastle night spot.

The Newcastle United winger was understood to be out on the town with friends on Saturday when he became involved in a brawl at the Livello nightclub in the city’s Quayside area.

The Newcastle Chronicle reports that the 20-year-old was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder, along with eight others. He was later released on police bail.

The Sun newspaper claims Aarons intervened after a group of young men were dancing with his aunt.

According to the report Aarons left the VIP area of the club to confront the group, which “sparked a mini riot in which tables were allegedly thrown, along with £250 bottles of Dom Perignon champagne.”

The Chronicle quotes a source who told them that the club was shut after police arrived, with staff questioned until 6am.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Police are appealing for information after a disturbance at Livello night club in Newcastle on Sunday October 9.

“At around 3am, officers attended the scene where a large altercation had broken out in the club. Nine people have been arrested and bailed pending further enquiries.

“One man attended hospital with facial injuries.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference 234 091016 or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Newcastle United refused to comment.
