The former Manchester United star was instrumental in helping Real Madrid seal their third Champions League title in four seasons, also helping them become Spanish champions for the first time since 2012.
Lionel Messi (as you probably guessed) was named in second, just ahead of his former Barcelona teammate, Neymar, who became the most expensive player in the world when he joined Paris Saint-Germain in summer.
The Premier League was well represented in the top 30, with players from Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham all featuring. Perhaps unsurprisingly, PFA Player of the Year N’Golo Kante was the highest-ranked English-based player, ranked eight.
