No, Conor McGregor’s next fight wasn’t accidentally announced

That 'deleted post' wasn't what it seems

When Conor McGregor’s next fight is announced, you will know all about it.

It’s almost been a full year since Conor McGregor has fought inside the Octagon and combat sports fans are just waiting for him to make his highly-anticipated return to the UFC.

Just to add to the anticipation, no one is sure who he is actually going to fight next. A lightweight title unification bout with Tony Ferguson is what most purists want to see, but the casual fans (you know, the ones who pay for McGregor PPVs in their droves) would probably be more likely to tune into a trilogy-completer against bitter rival Nate Diaz.

So when the image started getting shared around social media, some folks got a little carried away. Especially when a few accounts claimed that the poster was posted to and then swiftly deleted from the UFC’s official Instagram account.

We’re here to inform everyone not to fall for this. It is a load of bollocks.

The McGregor vs Diaz III fight announcement has not been leaked by the promotion. That image is actually from a fan-made YouTube promo for the fictional fight that was made over a year ago.

A quick google search of ‘McGregor Diaz 3’ will tell you all you need to know.

It’s important to note that this doesn’t mean McGregor isn’t fighting Diaz next, nor does it mean he is definitely going to unify the championship against Ferguson. No one knows what opponent he will be matched up for his return.
