Leicester don’t quite have the Premier League title wrapped up, but they’re remarkably close.
The Foxes moved seven points clear of second-place Tottenham with victory over Southampton on Sunday, and despite the efforts of one flag-seller to jinx Claudio Ranieri’s team it seems the title is all but theirs.
That’s certainly the opinion of bookmakers Betfred, at least, who have paid out on a Leicester title win with six games to spare.
“It will cost me a million pounds. I want those punters to get their dough now and I am delighted because Leicester have been an absolute breath of fresh air,” Betfred founder Fred Done is quoted as saying by the Racing Post.
We’ve already seen plenty of Leicester fans get cold feet and cash out on their long-shot bets, and frankly who can blame them?
But the latest round of payouts will make a lot of people a tidy some of money…and will let them breathe a little easier as the season enters its final stages.
