A UK fighter will kick off the undercard for one of the biggest boxing events for decades.
The first fight on the card for the pay-per-view clash between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather Jr has been confirmed.
Leonard Ellerbe, chief executive of Mayweather Promotions, told Sky Sports that former Team Great Britain Olympian Savannah Marshall will open proceedings at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas on August 26.
The 26-year-old from Hartlepool was an amateur world champion back in 2012 and she has twice represented her country at the Olympics. ‘The Silent Assassin’ has five major amateur medals to her name but she failed to medal at London 2012 and Rio 2016.
Marshall told Sky she was beyond excited with the news that she will kick off events in Vegas.
The middleweight star signed up with Mayweather Promotions back in May of this year.

Gervonta Davis and Badou Jack – two more on the Mayweather Promotions slate – are also expected to fight on the night.
