Patrice Evra’s relationship with the French national side has been rather… tumultuous.
The Juventus left back was famously captain of Les Bleus during their disastrous 2010 World Cup campaign, eventually leading a players revolt as the France side crashed out of the group stages without a win.
Invited back into the international fold for the 2014 World Cup, the fullback’s performances have been much like his sides – good, not great, with a few question marks over whether they really are the best in the continent anymore.
But while Evra puts some divisive performances on the pitch, off it he remains a firm fan favourite, and also the subject of a new meme from French football fans.
Patrice Evra’s performance in France’s 2-1 win over the Republic of Ireland saw an army of photoshoppers spring into world into action, and better yet, the French defender decided to post the best on his instagram page.

They even found a way to bring in the Cristiano Ronaldo meme too.
