Paul Merson’s view on Jurgen Klopp to Bayern Munich rumour is getting destroyed

Jesus.

Following the dismissal of Carlo Ancelotti, Bayern Munich are looking for a new manager and Liverpool manager JurgenĀ Klopp has been linked with the vacant post.

Granted, we don’t see this happening given the fact that Klopp seems very happy at Anfield and the former Borussia Dortmund manager has an interesting history with the Bavarian giants.

While managing Dortmund, Klopp once said that ā€œBayern are like the Chinese in industry ā€“ they look at what others are doing, copy it, then make more money the same way.”

As you may know, Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski left BVB for their fierce rivals during Klopp’s tenure at the club. He has a history with Bayern.

This being said, former Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld has tipped the Liverpool manager to join the club at some point.Ā “Jurgen Klopp will always be a candidate for the Bayern job. He knows the Bundesliga, he won the league and also the German Cup. I think and expect him to be the FC Bayern coach one day.”

When this idea of Klopp taking over at the Allianz Arena was pitched to Paul Merson, the Sky Sports pundit said thatĀ “I wouldn’t leave Liverpool for Bayern Munich.”

The former Arsenal man added that Bayern are a “million miles away from winning the Champions League” and that “they’re an aging team.”

“If Liverpool can sort out their defence they will be big players in this league. That Bayern Munich team is aging. It is a million miles away from winning the Champions League now. They might win the German league but I wouldn’t leave Liverpool for that,” he added.

A reminder that Bayern – just like Liverpool – have a glittering history.hasĀ won: 27 league titles, 18Ā DFB-PokalĀ Cups, 5 Champions League crowns, the UEFA/Europa League and countless other trophies.

The Bavarians have won: 27 league titles, 18Ā DFB-PokalĀ Cups, 5 Champions League crowns, the UEFA/Europa League and countless other trophies.

Bayern’s squad currently contains some of the world’s best players and the likes ofĀ Thiago (26),Ā SĆ¼le (22),Ā Kimmich (22), Alaba (25) and Coman (21) are only going to get better.

Even their more experienced players like Lewandowski, Neuer, Javi Martinez, Boateng and Vidal are only near-or-around 30.

Despite the defeat to PSG, Bayern Munich is a massive club. Plenty of people were quick to remind Merson of that.
