Surely this is a little premature?
Like it or not, the world’s very finest players tend to be judged on their performances in the big international tournaments. That means your place in the pantheon of historical greats is greatly dependent on a handful of games every couple of years – if you’re lucky.
Paul Pogba is possibly the summer transfer window’s hottest property. Real Madrid, PSG, Barcelona and Manchester United are just four of cash-rich clubs hoping to prise him away from Juventus. He is ear-marked by many as a future Ballon d’Or contender.
That said, his performance in the opening game of Euro 2016 left much to be desired. He relinquished possession a shocking 19 times against Romania, as fellow midfielders Dimitri Payet and N’Golo Kante embarrassed him with their relative excellence.
It may only been one game, but rumour has it that he is no longer considered a regular starter by France manager Didier Deschamps, and will have to considerably up his game in order to win back his place. And it seems more and more spectators agree.
This is no doubt that Pogba boasts so many facets of the ideal modern footballer: strength, pace, technique, audacity, vision, height and confidence. But there’s another adjective that has started to be attached to his name – and it is one he will welcome rather less…

And the winner of the current most overrated player of the world is: Paul Pogba. Absolutely nothing to warrant such adulation. Good at best.
