People loved the dabbing mascot before the Barcelona v Manchester City game

It's taken over.

Mascots and dabbing, it’s become a thing.

It was happening with the ball boys at the European Championships this summer, and England’s national stadium have even installed a ‘DabCam’ to try and encourage matchgoers to get in on the latest fad.

You’d have thought the honour of standing alongside the likes of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar would be enough to keep a young football fan entertained but you’d be wrong.

Because this little fellow at the start of Barcelona’s Champions League clash with Manchester City on Wednesday night felt the need to add a dab of dabbing to proceedings.

A handful of people were horrified to see the Champions League anthem sullied by the dance move that resembles a violent sneeze but it might surprise you to learn that the vast majority of supporters who’d spotted the dabcot doing his thing absolutely loved it.

We guess that’s 2016, eh? It’s not for everybody.

The dab clearly served his side well, as a Lionel Messi exploited a (literal) slip up from Fernando to give Barcelona a half-time lead over Manchester City at the Nou Camp.

Meanwhile, Arsenal go into the half with a 2-0 lead over Ludogrets thanks to goals from Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott while there have not been any goals yet as Celtic host A German Team Borussia Monchengladbach.
