Top of the Premier League, yet Manuel Pellegrini’s job at Manchester City appears far from safe.

It’s been rumoured before that this could be the Chilean’s last season in charge at the Etihad, and one man’s name continues to be mentioned as a potential replacement.

Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich team appear in formidable form domestically and in the Champions League, yet Spanish newspaper, El Mundo Deportivo, appear to suggest that the former Barcelona manager is set to become the new Manchester City boss.

The report claims that although nothing is signed with City, Guardiola has agreed to be the club’s manager in the future – with a start date of next season pencilled in.

Txiki Begiristain, City’s director of football, worked with Guardiola at Barcelona and has supposedly reached an informal agreement with his former colleague.

Guardiola, who has previously indicated in his autobiography that he’d enjoy the prospect of managing Manchester United, has been tipped to leave Bavaria at the end of the season. But further success with the German giants might change his mind.
