On his way

Pep Guardiola has issued an apology to Premier League bosses after confirming his imminent arrival in English football.

The Bayern Munich boss is stepping down from the Bundesliga leaders at the end of the season and is widely expected to be the subject of a scrap for his services this summer, with Man City, Man United and Chelsea all potentially looking to sign up the Catalan.

Whilst already the subject of intense debate, Guardiola’s announcement only added fuel to the flames of speculation, and the 44-year-old has offered his apologies to any managers whose lives he has made tougher due to the rumours.

“I am sorry,” said Guardiola, who is with Bayern at a winter training camp in Qatar.

“Normally in my career as a trainer and as a player, I respect my colleagues a lot. So I am sorry. It wasn’t my intention to offend anybody.

“I will reveal my new club once I have actually signed a contract.”
