Aaron Ramsey knows a thing or two about being on the wrong end of a bad challenge.
The Arsenal midfielder remains infamously unforgiving of Ryan Shawcross even six years after the Stoke defender’s tackle almost ended Ramsey’s career.
But the Welshman appears to be much more understanding as of late.
During Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat of Leicester City on Sunday, Ramsey felt the full force of a mistimed Danny Drinkwater challenge but received no assistance from referee Martin Atkinson.
After the match, Ramsey’s agent David Baldwin posted a picture of the challenge and commended the midfielder’s resilience. Ramsey then explained that Drinkwater had apologised to him ‘straight after the game’.
