Burying the hatchet?
Juventus defender Patrice Evra has paid tribute to Luis Suarez after the Barcelona striker claimed the Golden Shoe award for the most goals in domestic European football following his amazing 40-goal haul in La Liga in the 2015/16 campaign.
While there is nothing new in one footballer paying tribute to a peer on social media these days, Evra’s Instagram post about Suarez may come as a surprise to many, given the history between the pair going back to their days at Manchester United and Liverpool respectively.

Following a clash between the teams at Anfield in October 2011, Evra accused Suarez of using racially abusive language towards him, with Suarez copping an eight-game ban and a fine of £40,000 after being found guilty in a FA investigation.
In the subsequent meeting between the sides at Old Trafford the following February, meanwhile, there was controversy over the lack of a handshake between the pair before the game and a provocative celebration in front of Suarez by Evra following a Manchester United victory.
That all happened over four years ago, however and Evra appeared to be happy to let the past be the past with a tribute to the Uruguayan striker on Instagram, saying:
“In my Instagram there ‘only love and never hate!!! Luis, you’re a great player and the best number 9. Congratulations Luis @luissuarez9 I love this game!!! hahahaah”
