Michael Bradley wanted to honour the memories of those who lost their lives in Orlando in the early hours of Sunday morning.
50Â people were killed and 53 wounded when a gunman opened fire in a LGBT nightclub in Orlando, Florida last weekend.
The attack was targeted at Orlando’s LGBT community on a Latinx night at Pulse nightclub, a devastating loss for LGBT people all over the world.
On Thursday night US captain Bradley decided to pay tribute to the victims by sporting a rainbow-coloured captain’s armband for his side’s Copa America quarter-final against Ecuador.

Bradley swapped the typical yellow iteration for a rainbow one, a design synonymous with members of the LGBT community, while a moment of silence was also observed before the game in Seattle.
The USA went on to win the game 2-1 after both sides were reduced to ten men. Manchester United winger-cum-fullback Antonio Valencia saw red for a needless swing at an opponent, which kicked off a melee that led to Jermain Jones also given his marching orders for directing his fist at an Ecuadorian chin.
The win puts the hosts into the semi-finals of the tournament, where they will face either Peru or Argentina.
