Poker player wins $1m – in a tournament he almost didn’t enter

Some people have all the luck.

Poker player Tony Dunst finished second at the Aussie Millions poker tournament, winning AU$1m (nearly £500,000)…but he was close to leaving Melbourne without even entering the tournament!

In the end he joined the $10,000 buy-in tournament late, and it worked out well for him.

“I came down here to register…and i had two $5k chips in my pocket. I took out my phone to send an email or something, and one of the chips fell out,” Dunst told PokerNews.

“I was really p*ssed off and I was like ‘f**k this! I’m not gonna play. I’m outta here,’ – so I left.”

But thankfully for Dunst, his friend Mike McDonald offered to pay his full buy-in for a percentage of his final winnings – and the decision clearly benefitted both of them.
