Premier League fans warm to Newcastle’s bad-boy striker after red card

Tom Victor

Newcastle striker Aleksandar Mitrovic arrived on Tyneside with a reputation for a short fuse, and that has come to the fore already.

The Serbian striker was booked in the opening minute of his debut for the club and was lucky not to be dismissed against Southampton.

It was only a matter of time before he saw red, and the 20-year-old sent off inside the first 20 minutes of the Magpies’ game against Arsenal for a studs-up tackle.

He’s already making a name for himself in England.

Many rival fans have already taken to the young maverick, though not for the reasons Newcastle boss Steve McClaren might have hoped.

He’ll miss his team’s trip to West Ham, but his five-game record has brought back memories for some Toon Army fans already. Not the fondest of memories, though.
