Rafael dos Anjos claims he didn’t enjoy Conor McGregor’s defeat to Nate Diaz.
However, the Brazilian has little sympathy for the Notorious following his upset defeat at UFC 196, and appeared more than happy to rub salt into the wounds.
“A lot of guys offered to fight him (McGregor),” the UFC Lightweight champion told Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour.
“He picked Nate Diaz, who wasn’t training for sure. He didn’t spar once for this fight. So he picked the easiest one on his mind.”
“That guy (McGregor) thought he was going to win. Nate Diaz is a tough opponent, he’s hard to finish, he shows a lot of heart. Conor didn’t show a lot of heart.”
Dos Anjos went on to use an insulting analogy to describe McGregor, which we’ve a feeling he’s been waiting a while to use.
“He’s a lion when he’s punching someone, but when people punch him he’s a cat. He has a chicken heart.”McGregor v Dos Anjos were due to be the co-main event at UFC 196, until the Brazilian broke his foot and Diaz stepped in.
The fight would’ve been the biggest pay day of Dos Anjos’ career, but the 31-year-old claims he has no regrets over missing out, and doesn’t expect to face the Dubliner in the near future.
“I don’t need to fight him to change my life. He doesn’t deserve a fight for 155 pounds, he just got submitted by number five ranking with 10 days’ notice.
“This guy doesn’t bother me, he got exposed and everything he talks. I think everybody saw the truth. Even Holly Holm didn’t tap.”
“Be a man, show some heart.”
