Robbie Savage pens a letter of apology to Jurgen Klopp

This isn't the first time Savage has been wrong

This isn’t the first time Robbie Savage has been wrong.

However, for his sake, we hope he doesn’t write an apology letter each time he ends up wide of the mark, as it could become very time consuming.

The BT Sport pundit and former Strictly Come Dancing contestant has used his column in the Daily Mirror to apologise to Jurgen Klopp.

Savage had claimed following Liverpool’s penalty shoot-out defeat to Manchester City in the League Cup final that their manager had made little impact since succeeding Brendan Rodgers last October.

However, following Liverpool’s 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League, Savage admits he was too quick to judge Klopp, and sees a bright future for the Reds under his stewardship.GettyImages-518725188‘Klopp’s brave team selection, and Liverpool’s resolute performance, against Borussia Dortmund on Thursday has forced me to reconsider, Savage writes, adding that ‘That draw in Germany was not just a flash in the pan.

‘It was the latest in a series of outstanding displays under Klopp, like the swaggering away win at Chelsea in his fifth game last October, the demolition of Manchester City at the Etihad three weeks later and knocking Manchester United out of Europe in March,’ he continues.

‘All Liverpool have got to do to take their development under Klopp to the next level is to deliver those performances on a more regular basis.

‘I’m not scared to admit it when I get something wrong, and I was too quick to judge Klopp. Add another three or four top-quality players this summer and Liverpool will be a real force next season.’

Jurgen Klopp has yet to respond to Savage’s apology, but we’re sure the Liverpool manager can rest easier tonight knowing he finally has the backing of the former Leicester City midfielder.
