We’ve long since exhausted the bank of superlatives to describe Leicester’s season.
Claudio Ranieiri’s men aren’t quite home and hosed in terms of the title just yet, but Sunday’s results – their win over Sunderland and Manchester United’s defeat at White Hart Lane – meant that Champions League football will be played at the King Power Stadium next season.
This in itself is a hell of an achievement for a team that seemed like relegation fodder just over a year ago, and the role Robert Huth has played in the side’s turnaround should not be overlooked.
The German’s arrival in February 2015 helped plug a defence with more leaks than the Panama Papers and, alongside Wes Morgan, he’s formed a solid defensive platform for Vardy, Mahrez and the rest to build on as the Foxes chase league glory.
But even by his own admission, 31-year-old Huth isn’t exactly what you’d describe as a ‘flair player’. With that in mind, it’s easy to see why so many enjoyed his reaction to finding out that leicester were guaranteed a spot with Europe’s elite next season.
Yes! Champions League guaranteed! Better start practicing my Rabonas
