Ronda Rousey reveals retirement plans as she breaks silence after hiatus

Getting out before it's too late

Ronda Rousey isn’t going to outstay her welcome in the Octagon.

Suggestions were made that Rousey, previously thought to be an unbeatable force in the UFC’s women’s bantamweight division, was to hang up her gloves after her most recent fight in which she was brutally beaten by Holly Holm.

It’s been just under a year since Rousey’s stellar title reign came crashing down with one crushing shin to the neck in Melbourne, Australia.

But ‘Rowdy’ didn’t retire and will make her long-awaited return against Amanda Nunes this December, in the main event of UFC 207, when she will play the role of UFC title challenger for the first time

However don’t expect to see her hanging around for too long as she announced during an interview on Ellen this week that the end of her professional career was fast approaching.

“Not that long, I’m wrapping it up,” Rousey answered when asked how long she’d continue fighting.

“This is definitely one of my last fights. Everyone better watch because the show isn’t going to be around forever.”

Despite being outclassed on the feet in her last outing, Rousey will be favourite over Nunes when they meet in Las Vegas next month.

Rousey held the UFC women’s bantamweight title for 1,074 days before being dethroned by Holm but she’s been back in the gym since the summer and is currently in full-on fight camp.

“I’ve been training twice a day since the beginning of August so I finally feeling like I’m in a super ninja good mood,” she said.
