He may have had an acrimonious departure from the club, but Roy Keane still has some allegiance towards Manchester United.
Keane famously fell-out with former manager Alex Ferguson, and the pair have since exchanged barbs in their respective autobiographies.
While that hasn’t diminished Keane’s standing with fans of his former club, he certainly doesn’t maintain close links to United like some of his former teammates.
However, when it comes down to it, Keane’s loyalties evidently still lie United, judging by his reaction to Manchester City’s 3-1 victory over Barcelona earlier this week.
“I made a bad decision,” Keane said on ITV about his decision to attend the Champions League tie at the Etihad Stadium.
Keane also said, in a tongue-in-cheek manner, that he wasn’t “enjoying the game that much,” despite the tie between the two sides being one of the best matches of the season so-far
The Republic of Ireland assistant manager also said that the victory for Pep Guardiola’s side will provide “belief and momentum” and fill the team with confidence as they look to make a mark in Europe.
