Flyweight sensation Sabina Mazo may make a great addition to the UFC’s newest division.
The UFC are set to introduce a new female 125lbs division and they probably won’t be short of numbers to populate it.
The new season of TUF centres around crowning an inaugural women’s flyweight champion plus the inevitable migration of undersized bantamweights and strawweights that cut too much should see the promotion gain a lot of fresh contenders in-house. However, this also gives them a golden opportunity to sign exciting new fighters who were fighting at 125lbs in other promotions.
One such promotion the UFC may dip into is Legacy Fighting Alliance, where they snapped up former UFC champion Holly Holm in the show’s previous incarnation. The UFC will already have the likes of champion Andrea Lee and Mackenzie Dern on their radar and if they weren’t considering Sabina Mazo before, they may be following another impressive finish at the weekend.

Mazo stopped Linsey Williams at the 4:26 mark of round one with a stellar head kick that instantly shut the lights out. The 20-year-old Colombian improved her professional record to 4-0 with the finish, that forced the referee to heroically dive in to ensure no more unneccesary damage was handed out.
The eerie part of the win is that it’s pretty much identical to her KO of Jamie Thorton at LFA 9 five months. It’s early days, but if Mazo keeps up this momentum, she has a very bright future ahead of her.
