Saido Berahino vows never to play for West Brom again

Why so Saido?

Whether you think he’s a spoilt footballer who needs to honour his contract, or a tragic pawn in ego-driven negotiations, Saido Berahino has hit footballing rock bottom.

The 21-year-old was hoping that he would seal a move to Tottenham Hotspur on transfer deadline day, but West Bromwich Albion chairman Jeremy Peace very publicly rebuffed Spurs’ best efforts.

Berahino, who is clearly a determined young man with no qualms about speaking his mind, responded to his non-transfer with a message on Twitter that will no doubt have huge implications for his immediate future.

It said: ‘Sad how I can’t say exactly how the club has treated me, but I can officially say I will never play Jeremy Peace.’

It seems to suggest that the player is now on strike, and that he won’t play for West Brom ever again. Whether it was a spur of the moment show of anger, or a firm resolve to sit out his contract remains to be seen.
