Footballers retweeting promotional guff about health treatments and corporate freebies they’ve received won’t normally turn the head of fans.
But last night tweets from Samir Nasri’s account about a medical service he’d received set a dramatic and explicit departure from usual protocol.
It started after he was mentioned in a tweet from an account called Drip Doctors, which seemed to be innocently highlighting a recent treatment they’d provided the Sevilla player.
And then his account retweeted it, with this jaw-dropping addition.
That was just start of a bizarre and explicit Twitter rampage.
The tweets caused an understandable frenzy on Twitter and were deleted not long after. But the damage was done. They’d been screenshot and were circulating around social media at high velocity.
The debate quickly moved onto what was behind the explicit tweets from the former Man City player’s account.
Then in the early hours of this morning Nasri Tweeted again to say he’d been hacked. But offered no further detail on the matter.
My account got hacked sorry about what happen earlier

Presumably as he’s on the phone explaining what happened in great detail to Drip Doctors. Who, to be fair, will probably never achieve the brand recognition they have this morning again any time soon.
