You don’t often hear soup referenced in the Octagon.
But after Danny Henry’s debut in his native Scotland, it’s all he wanted.
Henry fell victim to some heavy shots in the first round of his lightweight clash with Daniel Teymur on the prelims of Sunday night’s UFC Glasgow card.
On several occasions in the opening frame, Henry’s chin was introduced to the granite-like fists of Teymur but the Scot’s will would not allow him to drop.

Henry bit down on his mouthpiece, weathered the storm and came off the stool in the second round a different fighter as he used his superior reach advantage to start punishing the Swede.
Exhaustion and Henry’s pressure began wearing on Teymur, who was almost finished more than once before the final buzzer, after which it was announced that the Edinburgh fighter had claimed a unanimous decision victory.

But Henry wasn’t looking forward to some celebratory champagne or a steak dinner after the bout.
“I’m going to go backstage and have some soup because my jaw is sore,” Henry told Dan Hardy in his post-fight interview.
And it went down an absolute storm.
'I'm gonna go backstage and have some soup' is now a top 10 favorite post-fight quote.
