Conor McGregor’s fans were not content to return to their hotels after the London leg of last week’s promotional world tour.
Hundreds of travelling Irish fans gathered outside Wembley’s SSE Arena in the hope of getting a glimpse of ‘The Notorious’ but had to settle for mobbing the departing car of Floyd Mayweather.
Following four evenings of gruelling promotion across three countries, Mayweather would have been exhausted and hoping for a clear path out of the venue.
But he didn’t account for the commitment of McGregor supporters to cause a ruckus.
Security guards had to get involved as fans of the UFC lightweight champion rushed to taunt the 49-0 boxing great in his vehicle.
“Get the fuck out of the way!” was roared by members of Mayweather’s security team, one of whom ended up on the ground in the melee after apparently being hit by the very Rolls Royce he was attempting to protect.
To be fair, it never looked like turning into an aggressive attack on the boxer but security can never be too careful and they had to physically shove some overeager fans out of the way.
