The striker has reportedly regained consciousness.
Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero was taken to hospital on Tuesday after he collapsed at half-time of Argentina’s friendly against Nigeria.
Aguero had become his country’s third highest scorer in the first half, putting them 2-0 ahead in the game in the Russia city of Krasnodar. However, he is said to have fainted at half-time and was then taken to hospital to undergo tests. TyC Sports [via Goal] later reported that Aguero, who recently became City’s record goalscorer, had recovered consciousness.
At this stage, little else is known of Aguero’s condition, with City, who are set to face Leicester City at the weekend, awaiting medical reports before the player returns to Manchester.
With Aguero’s former City teammate Kelechi Iheanacho halving the deficit for Nigeria shortly before half-time, The Super Eagles scored three times after the break without reply – taking a surprise 4-2 victory over the 2014 World Cup finalists. Two of their second half goals came courtesy of Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi.
