Skateboarder manages to avoid getting flattened by a car, but only just

The reaction says it all

Skateboarding is a risky business at the best of times.

This writer spent a pretty large chuck of his teenage years throwing himself down staircases on a piece of wood, and still has a few scars to show for it.

Getting good at the sport is impossible without kissing a few curbs along the way, but regardless of what the Tony Hawk games taught us, not even a professional is a match for a speeding car.

Cody Davis was being filmed trying to grind a handrail in St. Cloud, Minnesota. In a clip upload to Instagram, he landed the trick perfectly and even landed a little kick flip afterwards. What he hadn’t noticed was that a car was driving along the road he rolled out onto, something he only realised about a second before it would have otherwise smashed straight into him.

The skateboarder was able to jump off just in time – although not without kicking his board into the path of the front bumper – but the expression on his face in the clip says it all. Holy shit.

The Instagram caption notes that it was a “close call”. No kidding. Since being posted the video has received over 15,000 likes and 2,277 comments – many of which make use of the terrified-looking emoji.

Remember kids: always look both ways.
