By now, there’s every chance you’ve seen the incident which saw Sadio Mané sent off during Liverpool’s meeting with Manchester City from every possible angle.
The Senegalese international’s attempts to bring a high ball under control saw him inadvertently kick Ederson, the Manchester City goalkeeper, in the face. The lack of intent on Mané’s part saw many argue that the red card he received was harsh.
By the time the weekend was over, nobody, at any stage, had suggested that Ederson had overreacted to the challenge. Although it later emerged that the goalkeeper had escaped serious injury, the collision was enough for him to be stretchered off and sent to the nearby medical institute on the Etihad campus for an examination.
With this in mind, many watching Sky Sports News on Monday were surprised by Tony Gale’s views on the incident.
Appearing alongside host Rob Wotton and Tony Cottee to discuss the weekend’s key talking points, Gale compared Ederson’s reaction to that of Burnley goalkeeper, Tom Heaton, who dislocated a shoulder during his side’s victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.
“It’s interesting, the reaction of the ‘keeper, [staying] down for five minutes,” Gale said.
“Tom Heaton dislocated his shoulder and is waving to the crowd. Tom’s a proper man.”
Steady on Tony… https://t.co/vtgljSaZ9x

According to Tony Gale, Heaton was a man walking off the pitch after injury where ederson had to be stretchered off, beggars belief!
