Gareth Southgate has reportedly been promised a new contract with England until 2024, regardless of the performance at the Euros or the next World Cup.

FA chief exec Mark Bullingham has apprently stressed how much he wants Southgate to remain at England after £3.5m-a-year deal expires after Qatar in 2022.

Apparently contract negotiations are yet to begin.

Bullingham said:

We would love him to carry on, for sure, beyond this contract.

Gareth knows exactly how we feel about him. He knows that we think he’s doing a great job and we’d like him to carry on.

He’s got our unwavering support because we think he’s doing a brilliant job on and off the pitch. Every game we go into we want to win and we think he gives us the best chance of doing that.

We will get into that formal conversation after this tournament. But if you ask me now I’d say yes we’d like him to carry on.

He’s such a strong manager both on and off the pitch it opens up a whole array of different possibilities for him in the future. I think he could anything in club world or FA world absolutely.

Southgate has previously spoken about his desire to get into club management, but from what we can deduct from this statement, the FA will do everything in their power to keep him with the national squad.
