Steven Gerrard has barely touched down in LA, but his superhero status is already confirmed.
The former Liverpool captain was known as Captain Marvel in his Anfield days, but he looks set to trade in one superhero costume for another when he turns out for the MLS All-Star XI against Tottenham.
Gerrard has been named as a commissioner’s pick along with compatriot Frank Lampard, and could soon be donning this outfit.

If it seems familiar, here’s why.

Sure, the colour scheme is slightly altered and the star is in a different place, but there are intellectual property laws to obey.
But going with a character whose alter ego is called Steven? Come on guys, you have to be subtle in these scenarios. It’s almost like you want Baron Zemo, I mean Mauricio Pochettino, to get the upper hand.
Perhaps we should have seen this coming, with Gerrard becoming noticeably less Scouse in his early interviews as a Galaxy player. It’s still some transformation, though.
