Steven Gerrard got big billing with his high profile move to LA Galaxy from his boyhood club Liverpool.
Even if some American journalists couldn’t recognise the legendary Reds captain, it seems now US fans have taken him to heart.
Gerrard finds himself among some real legends of the game in MLS – playing  the likes of Italian maestro Andrea Pirlo, Spain striker David Villa and Brazil icon Kaka.
But even these glamorous footballing names couldn’t out-do the boy-done-good from Merseyside in the popularity stakes.
Gerrard sold more shirts than any of these towering figures – coming second in the Top 10 selling MLS jerseys list only behind US legend Clint Dempsey.
Not bad going, Stevie lad. His team-mate Robbie Keane didn’t even make the cut, despite continuing to bang in the goals for LA Galaxy.
To make matters worse he got done by Bradley Wright-Phillips.
