Bed bugs ruled Stuart Broad out of England's first Test match against the West Indies after they targeted a 'sensitive' area

Ouch

Stuart Broad was forced to sit out of of England’s first Test against the West Indies today, but for an extremely unusual and slightly embarrassing reason.

Playing halfway across the world always presents many challenges in cricket: adjusting to the humidity on the pitch, the facilities, the heat, and in some places, bed bugs.

Broad fell victim to bed bugs last night, as the little bastards had their way in his ‘sensitive area’, as reported on the BBC Radio 5 Live’s Test Match Special programme by Jonathan Agnew.

The right-arm fast bowler will have to sit out of the entire first Test as a result, with Sam Curran, Ben Stokes and James Anderson providing the pace for England, who bowled first.

The hosts got off to a great start, reaching 126-1, with the first wicket falling to Moeen Ali, before Ben Stokes got two more in quick succession before tea.
