Liverpool have been handed a huge boost by Daniel Sturridge’s return to training, but the striker is unlikely to feature in Saturday’s clash against Manchester United.
Sturridge, who hasn’t played for the Reds since April, took part in his first full contact session on Thursday as he steps up his rehabilitation from hip surgery.
The England international spent the summer in the US in a bid to reach full fitness, and it appears his recovery is on track.
Brendan Rodgers will certainly be encouraged by this latest development as he hopes to partner Sturridge with £32m recruit Christian Benteke.
