Having reluctantly bid farewell to Garry Monk, chairman Huw Jenkins has backed Alan Curtis to continue as manager of Swansea, insisting he is the right man for the role.
After allowing Curtis to step into the position after being Monk’s assistant, Jenkins went as far as comparing the appointment to Real Madrid opting to replace Rafa Benitez with Zinedine Zidane.
In his first programme notes since giving him the job, Jenkins explains his decision to stick with Curtis:
‘I have read many articles about how we have run the club and the position we find ourselves in, but we are not alone in where we find ourselves today.
‘The biggest club in the world recently sacked its manager and appointed the reserve-team manager to try to unite the star-studded players of Real Madrid.
‘Chelsea recently sacked Jose Mourinho and appointed an interim coach until the summer to try to unite the players and get them back to the levels that won them the league last season.’
