After the terrorist attacks in Paris on November 13, the opening round of matches for the European Champions Cup and Challenge Cup were postponed.

After negotiations between the EPCR, the Ligue Nationale de Rugby, Premiership Rugby and PRO12 Rugby, it has been confirmed that the matches will be rescheduled for the second weekend of January.

Games will now take place between Friday, January 8 and Sunday, January 10 – although the exact date of each fixture has yet to be announced.

It was feared that the games would not go ahead at all after the head of Bath Rugby claimed that the match-day points should be shared between teams.

But the Aviva Premiership have confirmed that the match between Bath Rugby and Sale Sharks, which was due to be played on Friday, January 8, will also take place later in the season on a date to be announced.
